This is a double page spread taken out of Q magazine:
I like this double page spread as I think it has been spaced out really well, on one page they have used a full picture of the band wheras the other page has writing and a small picture this creates a nice balance between text and photo's. The colours the band are wearing match the font colours this makes the spread seem smart and organized that has its own style. I really like the how they have made the title of the article black and bold as this is one of the first things you are instantly drawn to, the band is called Kings Of Leon and the title used is 'WE FOUR KINGS' this plays on the band name as the band members will be known as kings this instantly lets the audience know who the article is about, I am thinking about this for my own music magazine double spread as I want the title for my article to correspond with the artist and the picture shown so this will automatically create a story in theaudiences mind. They have used a medium shot of the artists this allows you to see the clothes they are wearing on the top half of their bodies but also gives you a closer look at the facial expressions than a long shot would. They have put a quote from the band in a bigger font which you look at first, the quotes are usually interesting or shocking so this makes the reader actually want to read the story, they have also put some of the quote in red which is colour suggesting danger/passion.
This is a double page spread taken from Kerrang magazine:
This double page spread shows an interview which is something I would think about doing for my double page spread. I like that this double page spread is completely different from the Q magazine one, this magazine has a different approach as they have a chaotic spreadwhere they use quite alot of pictures this allows them to put varied shots on the band on, including - long shot, medium close up etc. They have put the questions in a bigger/bolder font of white than the answer this looks really effective and I think I am going to do this in my magazine. The pictures seem to be telling a story of the band, the title 'HAIRY FAIRY TALES' reflect the band as they are dressed up in fairytale costumes like a knight and king this shows a connection between band and title. This shows me that the title for my article has to reflect/have a link to the picture of my artist that I take and include. They have took a quote from the interview and made it bigger, this helps to break up the text and gives it an edge, by enlarging a quote you are telling the audience to read the rest of the article as it will be interesting. I like how they have stuck to the rule of three- red, black and white these are all colours that emphasise the genre of rock and will help the audience know the genre instantly.
