Q Magazine - I think this magazine is Alternative Rock, i can tell by the artists names that are shown and the layout of the cover, it follows the three colour rule of red, black and white which are colours that attract both a male and female audience. This is a long shot of the artist Florence Welch i think they have used this as it shows off her whole body, they have placed her in a black costume that shows off her leg and body giving off a sexy image. Her bright red hair gives us the impression shes quites fierce and is ready to take on anything. They have set her standing in/ontop of the wonders of the world such as the statue of liberty and the eiffel tower, making her seem one of the wonders. She is in colour whereas the buildings are in black and white therefore she stands out for the background and makes her seem unique. They have represented her as being really confident here this makes us want to be like her.
I think the target audience for this magazine is unisex, 18-30 years old because they don't sem to advertise alot of things which younger audiences would usually go for, this magazine is for people who really enjoy music and want the latest news.
The masthead Q stands out as it is framed in a box and only slighty overlapped by the photo, the box is red which is a bold colour and the first thing we'd look at therefore letting us know whose magazine it is straight away. Alot of bylines are in capital letters showing that it is more important than other parts of the cover. They have included stories such as 'THE 100 GREATEST FRONT MEN' this immediatly makes us want to know who are the best front men in bands which encourages us to buy the magazine.
