Genre:
The genre of this magazine seems to be indie/rock, I can tell this by the story headlines e.g. 'Rock Star Fitness' etc the main picture used is of 'The Courteeners' this allows us to see what type of bands/artists are represented within the magazine. The style isn't sharp and in your face, it seems to be quite calm, all this things help to understand what genre it is.
Target Audience:
I think the target audience is aimed at mainly males as they use colours such as red, black and white that appeal to men more than women, and are masculine colours. The artists used e.g. Oasis and The Courteeners are male bands, they don't have any female artists listed. the contents page doesn't seem to have any stories that would reach out to a female audience, the story headlines seem to be biased towards men e.g. 'Paul Heaton' and 'The Q List', the stories include things about fitness which appeals more to men, they don't include stories about fashion etc which attract women. The age range seems to be 18-25 year olds.
Layout:
The layout seems to be really organized, the features all appear in a straight column and stay within the box and the review at the bottom is been placed in a rectangle, so this magazine seems to be very square and precise however you wouldn't say the same about the artists who probably are messy etc, the control in the layout may be used to highlight the lack of control in the rock stars lives. The colours show who the target audience and the contents page sticks to the rule of three about colours and doesn't go over the top, this makes it look quite professional. The fonts are sized to match the importance of the text e.g. the story headline may be size 16 however the information about the story headline may be size 12 as it isn't as important.
Representation:
The band seem to be laid back, they have their hands in their pockets which gives off the care free vibe, and the main man has glasses on so we don't get to have any eye contact. The band have messy hair and seem to be wearing casual t-shirts with skinny jeans this makes them look like normal people so we can relate to them more. They look quite cool and this makes you want to know more about them as a band, however none of them are smiling which makes them look quite moody.
Media Language:
This is a long shot of the band so we get a clear view of who they are
